Full Job Description

We are seeking to recruit a permanent but part time (0.4FTE) Fire Safety Advisor to work alongside colleagues in the Occupational Health and Safety Deptartment.
The role will involve providing expert advice on fire safety in all of the LSHTM owned and occupied premises in London, as well as two African Units (in the Gambia and Uganda) and, as and when required, to LSHTM staff and students globally. The Fire Safety Advisor will be the senior expert in fire safety at the organization and will be responsible for setting and monitoring standards throughout. Training will be a key part of the role and applicants should be able to demonstrate their abilities to train all levels of staff.
The postholder will report to the Head of Occupational Health and Safety but will also support Safety and Facilities colleagues at the two African Units. The role will involve international travel as well as work in London.

The successful candidate will have a CFPA Diploma in Fire Safety (or equivalent) along with qualifications in general safety. Experience of effectively dealing with fire safety regulators in the UK (fire service and HSE) is essential. Further particulars in the job description

The salary will be on the Professional Services salary scale, Grade 6 in the range £44,847 - £50,808 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary "Wellbeing Days". Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
