Full Job Description

27.5 hours per week (9am to 3pm daily with some flexibility in working hours for the right candidate), term-time only An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced nurse or first aider able to provide a high standard of health care and welfare support for our students (aged 11-16). The role involves:

  • Assessing staff and students' medical needs and administering first aid where required
  • The efficient daily recording and monitoring of students accessing first aid support and keeping appropriate databases up-to-date
  • Checking, ordering and storing supplies when received, adhering to Health and Safety
  • General first aid administration tasks

The role requires someone highly organised, with strong administrative skills and with a flexible approach and the ability to prioritise. The ability to remain calm under pressure and to deal with matters of a highly confidential nature is essential.
  • An in-date 3 day first aid qualification or willingness to renew an expired first aid at work qualification would be a requirement of the role. A knowledge and understanding of the education sector or experience of working within a school environment or with young people and particularly with child protection or safeguarding issues would be desirable.

Robert May's School is a popular and over-subscribed 11-16 academy school, with the largest catchment area in Hampshire, and we are proud of our strong record of academic achievement. We recognise the importance of character and want to ensure that our young people leave us confident and capable, having achieved the best they can within and beyond the classroom, poised for success and ready to make a difference to the lives of those around them.

We offer a competitive salary, a supportive and friendly working environment and a range of benefits including opportunities for continued professional development, a cycle to work scheme, on site free parking, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and access to an Employee Assistance Programme and a virtual GP service. This vacancy is part time, 9am to 3pm daily (some flexibility in working hours is possible) and term time only.
