Full Job Description

  • To carry out gym induction training and health screening for new gym members and ensure that the induction process is safe and regularly reviewed.
  • To carry out fitness assessments and devise fitness development programs for gym members and ensure that the assessment process is safe and regularly review.
  • To carry out re-assessments for current members of the staff gyms
  • To conduct personal training sessions with clients as and when required
  • To lead and instruct various studio based exercise classes
  • To ensure all gym equipment is cleaned, that the facilities are safely maintained and report any faults/potential risks to the Staff Gym Manager
  • To receive and make telephone calls and give out concise information about the staff gym
  • To take and make bookings for the staff gym using an electronic diary system
  • General administrative duties
  • Maintain an awareness and understanding of relevant national and Trust programs and initiatives
  • To undertake any others duties that the post requires.

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Staff Gym Instructor to deliver exercise related interventions on an individual and group basis to members of the gym at Bradford Royal Infirmary and St Luke's Hospital in Bradford. Travel between the two sites will be expected.
  • Interventions will include supporting members with and increasing their physical activity and devising personalised gym programmes. You will have a gym instructor qualification plus GCSE/ GCE or equivalent in Maths and English. You will also have knowledge of a range of sporting activities. You will be a team player and have skills in motivating others. Experience in working in a healthcare setting would be an advantage but is not essential. You will need to have good communication and negotiation skills, some experience of group and individual planning and delivery and be able to work independently and be highly adaptable. The successful candidate is required to be able to demonstrate the Trust values, the responsibilities of the job description and person specification, this includes excellent communication skills, the ability to multi-task and work collaboratively with all key stakeholders.
