Full Job Description
This role involves supporting individuals in achieving their health and fitness goals by providing guidance, motivation, and structured exercise programs. Promote physical well-being, encouraging healthy lifestyle habits, and ensuring the safe and effective use of fitness equipment. Tailor exercise plans to suit clients' fitness levels, goals, and needs and provide clear instructions and demonstrations for proper technique and form. Inspire individuals to maintain regular exercise routines and educate clients on the benefits of physical activity and healthy living. Ensuring amazing customer interaction and retention.,
- To assist in maintaining a safe, clean and pleasant environment for customers of the Council's leisure facilities.
- To carry out all systems of work and daily operating procedures of the fitness suite including inductions, coaching, training, maintenance and cleaning.
- To carry out regular personal training sessions on a weekly basis, maintaining high service and professional manner.
- To ensure the provision of good customer care and keep TRP figures up to date.
- To act in a manner which is professional and exhibits the right skills and behaviours to promote Castle Point Borough Council in a positive manner in line with its policies and cultures.
- To contribute to achieving the Council's corporate objectives and priorities.
- To contribute to achieving the Council's agenda for achieving continuous improvement in service delivery.
- To clean and maintain all gym equipment, the fitness suite and any other areas as directed.
- To report any defects with equipment promptly to centre management.
- To ensure high standards of health and hygiene prevail and that the gym is free of any hazards.
- Demonstrate the correct way to use exercise equipment and give advice and encouragement.
- Monitor the misuse of equipment and rectify customer faults.
- Work with customers to develop personal exercise and diet plans to assist clients in attaining their weight loss or healthy lifestyle goals and fitness targets.
- To ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations and processes.
- Maintain and update client records.
- To take measurements and weigh clients.
- To be smart and presentable at all times and to comply with the services uniform policy.
- To liaise with service managers and actively promote new ways of working and suggestions for service improvement.
- To undertake any training as required including recognised coaching qualifications, enhanced level certificates in fitness training, first aid, customer care.
- To undertake the reception function within the Fitness suite, including payments over the phone, bookings, control and monitoring of entry to the centre.
- To undertake classes consistent with relevant qualifications held.
- To work at any of the Council's Leisure facilities as required.
- To comply with the centres operating procedures and to be aware of any responsibilities contained therein e.g. Emergency Action Plan.
- To deliver Personal Training sessions to the standard set by the Health and Fitness Manager
- To hit monthly targets set by the Health and Fitness Manager
- To deliver personal training sessions out of working hours and keep a weekly log of personal training sessions delivered
- To maintain safe practice whilst delivering personal training, always ensure you are confident enough to deliver training sessions, no matter the situation or refer.
- To be respectful of customers and clients needs and keep everything confidential.
Current First Aid Qualification - Level 2 certificate in Fitness Instructing (approved by REPS)
- Level 3 certificate in advanced Fitness Instructing (approved by REPS)
- Experience of working in a gym environment or leisure industry
- Ability to demonstrate Health and Safety knowledge and experience
- Customer care experience and knowledge
- Ability to be diverse and accommodate to any situation whilst delivering fitness advice
- Good organisational skills and the ability to maintain customer records
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, supporting colleagues at all levels
- A positive "can do" attitude when dealing with a wide range of individuals and queries
