Full Job Description
The applicant should demonstrate skills and leadership of Nursing the acutely sick child, supporting MDT colleagues and managing families compassionately., The ward sister will be a highly experienced, knowledgeable clinical leader, who provides clinical and professional leadership and support to the ward team. Acting as a role model the ward sister will promote and monitor safe and effective practice. The ward sister will develop the ward team to ensure considerate and compassionate care is delivered by a competent workforce and develop processes to enhance the patient experience., Deliver a patient centred style of practice that reflects and promotes the OUH Trusts beliefs and values of professional nursing practice and patient care, acting as a role model for other nursing staff. Provide expert clinical advice to nurses and members of the multi-disciplinary team. Set and maintain standards of practice, conduct and decision making and monitor staff compliance. Evidence this through audit process. Promote effective communication and liaison with other health care professionals with ongoing responsibility for patient care. To be lead in management aspect of job efficiently such as setting health roster, initiating HR forms , recruitment process and team management in terms of appraisal and support.
- Current first level RN registration with NMC
- Degree in Nursing /children Nursing
- Evidence of experience as Children Nurse
- Facilitating and Assessing Workplace Learning module or equivalent
- Proven evidence of change management
- Evidence of specialist knowledge and competency in the specialty on the unit Desirable criteria
- Evidence of post registration qualification or training in the speciality.
- Experience in rostering
- Working to or willing to take on education at Masters level
- Leadership course, Strong Organisational skills
- Proven Leadership skills
- Being self-aware and able to accept constructive criticism
- Ability to prioritize, instruct and direct others
- Resilient and proactive under pressure, You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
