Please note that this vacancy may be withdrawn at any time should it be filled via the internal redeployment process, The Department of Gastroenterology/ Hepatology are appointing an Registrar (senior clinical fellow) level doctor to support acute gastroenterology and Hepatology in patients at the Grange University Hospital.
The post will be ward based with the opportunity to attend specialist outpatient clinics and observe inpatient endoscopy (there will be no formal endoscopy training associated with this post).
The successful applicant will consolidate their existing skills and experience in medicine within a busy Gastroenterology department. Exposure to a wide range of Gastroenterology and Hepatology specific conditions with place them in an excellent position when applying for further training within the speciality.
The post will include on call in General Internal medicine at the Registrar (tier 4) level, on the 1:14 oncall rota., The main responsibilities are for the effective and appropriate medical care of inpatients admitted under the care of Gastroenterology. The duties and responsibilities will be appropriate to the grade and speciality with appropriate consultant supervision. This will include the assessment, monitoring, and initiating treatment, with colleagues and under consultant supervision. Attend consultant and multidisciplinary ward rounds and supervise relevant junior medical students who may rotate through the directorate. Undertake regular unsupervised ward rounds on the relevant ward to ensure patients are making satisfactory progress. Complete discharge summaries in a timely fashion. Attend clinic as part of continuing professional development.
