Full Job Description

SKU has a large number of home dialysis patients as well as around 500 transplant patients and 540 haemodialysis patients. Haemodialysis takes place at the main unit at SKU and in satellite units at Bexhill, Eastbourne and Worthing.
There are some clinics held offsite at the satellite units which the post holder will be expected to attend and assistance with transport can be provided.
There are ample opportunities for audit and quality improvement projects in our well-established audit programme. There is also the time and resources for extensive study leave opportunities and this is encouraged in all registrars.
There are also research activities which the post holder could become involved with both NIHR portfolio studies and independent projects with a good track record of trainees presenting their work at national and international meetings.

This is a 6-month post in Renal Medicine to start December 2024.The successful applicant would become part of the Renal team and rota, covering days, early starts and late shifts. There is also the requirement to cover 1 in 7 weekends.
This post would suit someone finishing core training wanting to get some experience of nephrology before deciding which speciality to apply for. It would also be suitable for someone wanting to increase their commitment to speciality ahead of ST3 applications. It is also possible to be used by someone interested in the CESR route towards renal certification. No prior knowledge is assumed, and full training will be given.
