Full Job Description

As a Finance Manager supporting the Assets team you will be responsible for the accurate production of the monthly management reports and balance sheet reconciliations. You will take ownership of some month- and quarter-end processes including lease accounting and reporting under both UK and US GAAP. You will support and develop a team of Finance Accountants.,

  • Deliver timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual close in compliance with SOX requirements
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations and identify risk and opportunities
  • Review all rent- and lease- related accounting and payment instructions
  • Act as a finance business partner to the wider business, including the Property and Legal departments advising on capital expenditure and rent-related accounting queries
  • Work on a wide variety of projects including process improvements
  • Responsible for:
  • Leading and developing a team of finance accountants
  • Reviewing month end journal postings and ensuring financial statements are true and accurate
  • Accurate accounting of capital expenditure, acquisitions, disposals, and leases under US GAAP and UK GAAP
  • Review of fixed and intangible assets accounting and reconciliations including acquisition accounting
  • Performing Flux analysis and responding / resolving queries related to capital, rent and leases from the US corporate team, UK management accounting and internal and external auditors
  • Ensuring lease payments are made accurately and timely in line with contract
  • Performing SOX controls related to capital and lease accounting under US GAAP
  • Reviewing Balance Sheet reconciliations on a monthly and quarterly basis, ensuring the process is conducted in a robust and timely manner and that old balances are investigated and resolved, and risks and opportunities are highlighted
  • Acting as a business partner for other teams across Bright Horizons such as Legal and Property on queries and projects related to the BH leases and property portfolio
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements to the above tasks to ensure these are being done in the most efficient manner and risks are mitigated, Qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA)
  • Confident in double entry bookkeeping and in delivering accurate and timely month- and quarter-end reporting
  • Experience in lease accounting under IFRS / US GAAP
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Ability to build trust and develop cohesive teams - strong empathy, clear expectations and fair-minded
