Full Job Description

Hough Green Garage Ltd are looking to recruit a fleet maintenance fitter, who has the relevant experience in the mechanical industry. Hough Green Garage is a family-owned business with 13 depots covering the northwest, The successful applicant will be based out of our fleet maintenance workshop in Head Office, Widnes. In a busy, fast paced environment the successful candidate will be responsible for fleet maintenance, 6 weekly checks, servicing, pre-mot's. The successful applicants must be qualified to NVQ/BTEC or City and Guilds level 3 standard in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or have served a relevant Apprenticeship. Hourly rate is dependent on work experience and qualifications, shifts and hours will be discussed at interview. Duties:

  • Making regular checks on machinery according to a planned schedule
  • Regular maintenance work such as oiling and cleaning
  • Replacing parts on a planned basis after a certain number of hours
  • Checking and calibrating equipment to make sure it is accurate
  • Maintaining accurate and comprehensive service and maintenance records
  • Identifying and capturing machine damage, investigating and documenting, as appropriate
  • Investigating, diagnosing and repairing machine faults
  • Fixing faults promptly
  • Using in-depth knowledge of the machinery to diagnose faults
  • Being available for urgent calls at all times, including weekends
  • The ability to investigate and diagnose technical faults and take ownership to resolve problems.
  • Carry out Service, Maintenance and Repair of a mixed fleet of vehicles and trailers.
  • Carry out inspections
  • Complete MOT prep/ presentation
  • Completion of all required paperwork, including job cards and service sheets using online systems
  • Fault diagnosis and rectification
  • To work safely and comply with H&S legislation and company procedures at all time

    Ideally candidates would have a minimum of 5 years' experience working with, repairing and servicing
  • Recognised apprenticeship preferably a higher-level standard.
  • Proficient in English, both written and verbal.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to work alone or in a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
