Full Job Description

The WMS Commercial team is responsible for managing wholesale and trading services to third parties including but not limited to renewable and large scale generators, small suppliers, owners of flexible assets (e.g. battery storage and gas peaking plant) and Behind the Meter residential and commercial flexibility (e.g. EVs, small batteries).

As the Flexibility Partnership Lead you will support the wider strategic goals of the Flexibility team by realising the vision and being the market facing lead to bring innovative propositions to market and forming partnerships with strategic partners within EDF Group and externally.

We'll support your development by enabling access to courses relevant to development in the role and career.

You will benefit from gaining a breadth of experience and knowledge in a rapidly changing and evolving part of the energy industry, working across teams within Flexibility and beyond, and gain skills in effective communication with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.   • You will be accountable for market scoping, proposition design support and the contractual structuring of partnership deals most principally in the home and business flexibility market.

  • Plan, undertake and support user and market research to inform strategic decisions and the design of potential solutions. Work with the wider team in developing a product roadmap that strategically grows our business leveraging our capability alongside customer and partnership opportunities.

  • Identify & scope out customer and business requirements and effectively translate them in to innovative or improved product offerings which meet requirements including compliance, performance and scalability.

  • Structure contracts with multiple partners that facilitate delivering flexibility with third party assets in the home and business flexibility markets. You will be responsible for drafting the initial contracts (accounting for commercial, operational and regulatory requirements) and then working with our legal team to finalise and progress through governance to signature.

  • You will demonstrate commercial acumen and industry/market knowledge through negotiation with potential partners to grow our flexibility business.

  • Work closely with the Home and Business Product teams, and product owners, to design propositions that are commercially sound and scalable. You will account for customer tariff's, behaviours, technology and any regulatory requirements.

  • You will be responsible for coordinating the technology team where it comes to integrating with third party partners.

  • You'll have excellent knowledge of UK wholesale energy and flexibility markets, be highly numerical with a proven ability to understand and challenge a wide variety of modelling and analytical techniques, but above all to be able to act upon modelled outputs to add value to both customers and EDF.

  • You will need strong commercial acumen, customer focus and understanding of changing business & financial environments. You will need to appreciate how to simplify what is a highly complex market into commercial products that can be understood by our customers, with experience in drafting contractual structures that support this.

  • You can establish and maintain effective internal & external business relationships with key stakeholders, including at senior levels.
