We are currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Flood Hydrologist to join our Water Management Team on a permanent basis. This position could be based in Edinburgh, Cambridge, Birmingham, London, Reading, Bristol or Taunton. We can offer you a mix of home and office working which will help maintain a good work life balance and effective team working.

We are fortunate to work with an excellent range of public and private clients across the UK and our client-focused approach has enhanced our reputation as one of the leading development consultancies in the local market.

You will have the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of multi-disciplinary projects, including flood alleviation studies, river restoration, flood risk assessment, major infrastructure and development work. You will be involved in supporting works to water bodies classified under the Reservoirs Act, supporting work driven by the Water Framework Directive and engineering design of hydraulic structures and navigational works.

You will be responsible for the production, analysis and review of hydrological models, using standard FEH techniques, applying these to permeable and pumped catchments and hydrology to support our reservoir supervising engineers. You will be analysing low and normal flow conditions to support river restoration and wetland design and will work closely with our team of hydraulic modellers.

You will support our Senior Hydrologists with spreading best practise across the business in the application of hydrological assessment methodologies and provide support and mentoring to junior members of the team. Your client and stakeholder liaison skills at all levels will be important.

You will be BSc/BEng/MEng qualified and be on your journey to chartership. You will have experience in flood hydrology using FEH and other standard metholdologies to support engineering design, river engineering, restoration/habitat improvement, flood alleviation schemes and surface water design on projects from pre planning stage all the way through to construction detail.

You will have an understanding of land development and national planning policy. You will have strong GIS skills using Arc, MapInfo or QGIS.
