+ Attending daily ward rounds and liaising with clinical staff to identify suitable patients to be transferred and lead on patient transfers and discharges + Ensure safe and timely patient flow + Confident communicating clearly and compassionately to staff and patients + Working efficiently independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team + Able to work flexibly in a fast-paced environment with an inclusive and patient-centred approachWorking for our organisation Our staff oversee over 6,500 patient contacts every day, delivering high standards of healthcare from the following sites:

  • Freeman Hospital
  • Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI)
  • Health Innovation Neighbourhood (on the former Newcastle General Hospital and Centre for Ageing and Vitality site)
  • Newcastle Dental Hospital
  • Newcastle Fertility Centre
  • Northern Centre for Cancer Care, North Cumbria
  • Northern Genetics Service
  • Cramlington Manor Walks

For further information on The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust please visit: Careers | Newcastle Hospitals | NHS | Newcastle Hospitals and Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, + Coordination of inpatient admissions, transfer and discharge across and between medical wards + Act a principle contact with patients, health care professionals and other organisations to ensure an efficient, effective and value for money service is in place, maintained and developed. + Contribute to a consistently high standard of patient care as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. + Work in collaboration with the Ward Manager and MDT staff to support the discharge planning process. + To assist in maintaining patient flow throughout the ward. + To act as a 'runner' to ensure all necessary actions are undertaken and completed to facilitate efficient and effective discharge. Management role within inpatient and outpatient services: + Provides day to day management for ward clerks on the inpatient wards, when necessary. + Provides local training & induction for these staff, when necessary As a flexible working friendly organisation, we want to be sure that you can work in a way that is best for us and for our patients, and for you.     As a Flow Co-ordinator you will be integral to optimising bed capacity and reducing transfer delays across Medicine. This is a dynamic role which will positively impact the front of house services and patient experience. It is a role suited to an individual with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and previous experience in a healthcare setting.
