Full Job Description

The Flu and Covid vaccination programme supports the strategic and operational implementation of the vaccination programme across MSE Trust is responsible for delivering a fast paced, dynamic vaccination programme to the people of Essex. Our strategy is to leave no-one behind and therefore the focus of the programme is to ensure everyone has equal opportunity to receive a vaccine should they wish to have one. The vaccination programme will continue to be offered through the 3 sites, Basildon, Southend and Broomfields. The postholder will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders including:

  • Registered nurses

  • Registered midwives

  • Registered nursing associates

  • Operating department practitioners, paramedics or physiotherapists registered in Part

  • 13, 8 or 9 of the Health and Care Professions Council register
  • Pharmacists

  • This will ensure consistency of approach throughout MSE Trust ensure that capacity is utilised as effectively as possible and all opportunities for raising the profile of the Covid vaccination are capitalised on., Ensure all paperwork has been provided pre-vaccination by the staff, check identity & confirm vaccine details (type, date, time, dose)
    Being able to assess staff and understand the pre-requisites of giving immunisation, understanding the contra-indications, the aftercare, and the relevant advice.
    To act as a strong advocate for the Flu and covid vaccination campaign by actively promoting uptake.
    Ensure that all statutory & mandatory training is up to date. This includes CPR, Anaphylaxis, and Immunisation training.
    To maintain the necessary communication and liaison with all members of the nursing disciplines and allied professions.
    Provide support, guidance, and supervision to junior and clerical staff members of the Immunisation service.
    Maintain own personal safety and that of others by taking reasonable care, carrying out the requirements of the law and following recognised codes of practice. The Nurse is also required to be aware of and comply with Trust policies on Health and Safety.
    · Develop opportunities for innovation through analysis.
    · There is a requirement to maintain information and databases., · Be responsible for leading the co-ordination of work as required, management and resource utilisation.
    · Manage the planning, delivery and assurance of a large-scale programme of continuous improvement work and will require strong project and programme management skills.
    · Co-ordinate local project teams and ensure that all personnel involved with programme and project activities understand their roles and carry them out effectively, taking corrective action where appropriate.
    · To be accountable and lead for specific designated work streams relevant to the programme areas of responsibility in fulfilling a duty to deliver against the agreed set of service expectations.
    · Efficiently deal with crises, emergencies and contingencies with the lowest level of disruptions.
    Freedom to act
    · To make judgements and decisions within the confines of own professional code of conduct boundaries and within national and trust guidelines/policies for self and report to the Vaccination Site Leads.
    · Interpret overall health service policy and strategy.
    · Act with minimal guidelines and set goals and standards for others.
    Physical effort
    · Manual handling of equipment (e.g. records, vaccination equipment).
    · Frequent requirement to exert moderate physical effort (walking, standing up). · Sit moderate periods in the office when using visual Display Units / writing records / correspondence.
    · Lift and carry patient records and equipment daily
