A part time food technician is required forapproximately 29 hours a week from January 2025.This appointment is to support the teacher incharge of and teacher of food preparation andnutrition in the classroom. An understanding of theschool, its ethos and community is essential.,

  • The post holder provides advice and assistance
  • in meeting the practical needs of the food and nutrition curriculum
  • The post holder is responsible for all equipment

  • Co-ordinate the use and maintenance of
  • practical resources and facilities, and provide assistance and advice in meeting the practical needs of the food and nutrition curriculum
  • Responsible for ordering food, equipment and
  • arranging for repairs, while keeping appropriate financial records to ensure expenditure is kept within budget
  • To aid teaching staff in the food department
  • within the technology area
  • To support teaching and learning in practical

  • Be a qualified First Aider or be willing to be
  • trained
  • Attend all school INSET days either attending
  • relevant training or preparing for the term ahead times
  • Prepare ingredients and equipment to ensure
  • that the resources are available for lessons so that demonstrations and practical lessons run smoothly
  • Undertake stock checks and rotation to ensure
  • that ingredients are stored correctly to ensure the health and safety of students and staff
  • Provide information for students and teachers
  • on the correct way to prepare ingredients in order to avoid accidents/damage to equipment
  • To assist when required in practical lessons
  • to support staff and students to help with maintaining health and safety
  • Maintain food rooms in terms of hygiene in
  • liaison with cleaners. Checking that surfaces and equipment are clean and that the temperature of fridges and freezer is within permitted range reporting any equipment or other maintenance issues promptly
  • Maintain accurate financial records to ensure
  • that school financial procedures are adhered to and expenditure is kept within budget
  • Collect and maintain data about food allergies to
  • ensure teachers are aware of possible issues and ensure safety of students
  • Provide technical support to staff as required
