About Riverside School
We are a successful maintained co-educational secondary special school located in the borough of Haringey in North London.
We are always mindful that we need to deliver positive outcomes for all, according to our motto: 'Learning to Live Life to the Full'.
We aim to develop and nurture happy and fulfilled students whilst ensuring they have the highest possible levels of independence before moving on to Post-16 or Post-19 education and later adult life.
We provide 175 student places in school years 7-14 across 5x teams, (4x Teams in the Main School, and 1x Team with their own nearby annex), for students with a wide range of general, moderate, complex, severe and profound and multiple learning difficulties.
Approximately 67% of the school's population have a diagnosis of autism.
The Four Main School Teams
Each Main School Team consists of 3-5 classes, organised according to common levels of independence and needs within the Teams, divided by key stage rather than year group.
Team 1: MLD (11-16, KS3/4) Progress 8+: fully-speaking students.
Team 2: SLD (11-16, KS3/4) Progress 8: speaking students needing extra communication support
Team 3: SLD (11-16, KS3/4) Sensory Progress 8: Non-speaking students / complex sensory needs
Team 4: PMLD (11-19, KS3/4/5) Developmental 8: Non-speaking students / complex medical needs
The Post
We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic teacher to teach Food Technology across the four Teams in our Main School. The classes include a very wide range of needs and different attainment levels, as outlined above.

Many observed lessons involved students being supported to take part in structured and purposeful social skills activities where shared attention, turn taking, sharing and group learning was supported effectively by staff.'
