Full Job Description
As a Food Waste Volunteer, you will play a vital role in reducing food waste and supporting your local community by redistributing surplus food to those in need. This involves collecting, transporting and sorting food, as well as raising awareness about food waste and sustainability by being part of the community fridge volunteer team. Activities includes:
- Collecting surplus food from local supermarkets, bakeries or other food suppliers.
- Ensuring proper storage and handling of food during transport.
- Delivering collected food to Merstham Hub Community Fridge.
- Assisting in display, cleaning and sorting food.
- Inspecting food items to ensure they are safe and fit for consumption.
- Organising and storing food donations following hygiene and safety guidelines.

- Written role description When is this role available? When: 06/12/2024 - 30/06/2025 Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Sat Sun Morning Afternoon Evening Availability: Saturdays, and some Thursdays and Sundays.
- A passion for sustainability and reducing food waste.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Good organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- The physical capability of lifting and carrying food items. (reasonable adjustments can be made).
- A valid driving licence.
