Would you like to contribute to the valuable service we provide to the communities of Cheshire?

Cheshire Constabulary can offer you a unique and rewarding role as a Communications Operator within our Force Control Centre.

You will deal with members of the public and provide vital support to frontline officers on a day to day basis.

We do not expect you to have experience of emergency call handling and you will be given full training, followed by a period of job related coaching to make sure that you are ready for the challenges that this rewarding role will present.

We are looking for people who can bring their valuable skills and experience to our Force Control Centre and welcome applications from anyone with:

  • A passion for public service.

  • The ability to multi-task.

  • Customer service experience - over the phone or face-to-face.

  • Must be computer literate

    During Training you will earn the starting salary of £25,713.

  • Once you have completed Training and start on the Full-Time shift pattern, you could earn approximately in the region of £32,048 to £37,231 per annum. This includes the 20% shift allowance and weekend enhancement. ( please note that your monthly income will vary due to how many weekends that month you have worked )

  • Once you have completed Training and start on the Part time lates shift pattern, you could earn approximately in the region of £14,110 with the potential to earn up to 19,881 this includes the 10% shift allowance and time and a half weekend enhancement once you have completed your training ( please note that your monthly income will vary due to how many weekends that month you have worked )

  • Once you have completed Training and start on the Part time nights shift pattern, you could earn approximately in the region of £20,681 with the potential to earn up to £24,027 this includes the 33% shift allowance and time and a half weekend enhancement once you have completed training. ( please note that your monthly income will vary due to how many weekends that month you have worked )


  • Please note, your salary will increase through progression within the above range., Please be aware that our work is 24/7 so you will be required to work shifts, examples of the full time shift pattern will be attached to this advert.

    Please keep in mind some key dates that you will need to attend throughout the application process:

    - 15th/16th/17th October

    Interview Dates
    - W/C 21st October

    Please note if you are successful through the process, this advert you are applying for will be heading towards a start date of the 06th January 2025.

    The first 7 weeks you will have classroom-based training (Mon-Fri, 09:00 to 17:00). During this time, it is crucial for your development you DO NOT have a period of leave booked between 06th January 2025 until 24th February 2025.
