Vetting. All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The residency requirement is necessary to enable all applicants to be checked in an equitable manner. Thames Valley Police will allow applicants to apply who do not necessarily reach the criteria as long as they have proven UK residency and supporting evidence where necessary. Applications will be considered on a case by case basis.

Specifically, you will conduct background research to identify, assess and manage any possible risk, relating to individuals, their associates and to ascertain an understanding of their wider life circumstances. You will further process National Security Vetting through a third-party supplier to ensure the appropriate clearances are granted.
This research will be conducted through a range of ICT systems, to include (amongst others) the Police National Computer, local and national criminal intelligence systems, credit reference applications and the voters registry. Where necessary, you will also conduct interviews to ascertain the vetting candidate's version of events, so that a fair and consistent decision can be reached. You will also accurately maintain the vetting database and process all related correspondence.
The successful candidate will be able to communicate at all levels of the business, and will be expected to regularly engage with members of the public, various internal departments and external organisations to facilitate vetting enquiries. You will demonstrate excellent decision-making capabilities and show meticulous attention to detail, be able to manage multiple, and often complex, vetting case files and develop proportionate risk management strategies.
Full training and mentorship will be provided and the successful candidate must pass a series of training courses, which will be hosted at both TVP HQ in Kidlington, and at your base station.
This role is part of a national, regional and local network. Therefore, the successful candidate may be required to travel for business purposes, mainly across the South East region, but occasionally throughout the UK. For this reason, a full UK Driving Licence is essential to the role.
The successful candidate is also required to obtain Police Clearance at MV (Management Vetting) and National Security Clearance at DV (Developed Vetting). As such, applicants must be a British National and have resided in the UK for the past ten years in order to apply.

In this role, the successful candidate will carry out vetting checks against Police Officers and Staff looking to join CTPSE and SEROCU and carry out regular reviews of vetting clearances for those already working within the environment. These checks will be carried out in line with the Vetting Code of Practice and the Authorised Professional Practice (APP) for Vetting.
