Full Job Description

Are you ready to leave your mark in forensic investigation? Are you someone who has a keen eye for detail, has the ability to concentrate for long periods of time, is process driven and has a passion for assisting the criminal justice system? Then our Forensic Analysis Officer role is for you!

We are looking for a dedicated individual to work in our Chemical Development Laboratory and Forensic Analysis Bureau. When working in the laboratory, you will be using specialist techniques to enhance, develop and capture ridge detail. In the Bureau, you will be analysing the captured ridge detail to identify/exclude suspects or eliminate victims. You will have the opportunity to engage with members of the public when taking their fingerprints and attend the mortuary to identify the deceased when required. You will also analyse and code footwear marks as well as process DNA and tenprints taken from arrestees in custody. After the initial training, there is further progression available including crime scene attendance where you will use laboratory techniques alongside Scenes Of Crime Officers to develop ridge detail.

We are looking for passionate, committed people that are good decision makers to join our team, who are interested in progressing their career in forensics through the training and courses that will be provided. The training will be a mix of external courses and 'on the job' training, and it will take between 3 and 4 years to be fully competent in all aspects.
