Forensic Dysphagia Lead Speech & Language Therapist

We are pleased to offer this exciting opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist with strong skills working with dysphagia, passion for working with patients with mental health conditions and aptitude for service development.

You will work directly with patients in High, Medium and Low secure hospitals in the Forensic division of Nottinghamshire Healthcare, building relationships with multiple teams, shaping the universal, targeted and specialist offer of support for people with dysphagia, and leading on quality improvement. There may be scope to work on Speech Language and Communication Needs in some instances, with consideration for longer term service requirements.

You will form part of the Speech and Language Therapy Team, with support from the SLT Professional Lead, and leading on developing the skills of the wider SLT workforce., The post holder will work collaboratively with each hospital and the Professional Lead SLT in order to plan and deliver a dysphagia service, with a high level of independent working. Application of clinical skills in order to address speech, language and communication needs of patients referred to the service will be required, with consideration of longer-term service strategy regarding these needs.

This role requires a high level of clinical and professional expertise in order that those with speech, language and communication needs and/or dysphagia needs and their care teams benefit from a well-coordinated pro-active, specialist, efficient and effective speech and language therapy service with specialist focus on dysphagia in forensic healthcare.
