Full Job Description

The role of Forensic Laboratory Officer requires that you have your fingerprints and DNA taken and these will be stored on the contamination elimination database. This requirement is written in to your contract.

Applications are invited for the post of Forensic Laboratory Officer to join a small but dynamic team of specialists who provide wet forensic services for the Scientific Support Unit who in turn support the investigative function of Cleveland Police.. Forensic Laboratory Officers use a variety of specialist physical, chemical and technical processes to recover forensic intelligence and evidence. We would like to recruit an enthusiastic, flexible and motivated individual who has an inquisitive and analytical nature to join our dedicated and passionate team.

Candidates a forensic or crime scene related background and a good working knowledge of crime scene examination principles. The successful candidate will also have an understanding of Quality Management Systems and British Standard ISO/IEC 17025. The workload is varied, fast-paced and challenging so an ability to learn, accept change and absorb new working practices is required.

There will be occasions where visits to other locations, including crime scenes, is required. This may involve attending scenes of a sensitive, distressing, and traumatic nature.
