Formulation Scientist

Dycotec Materials have an exciting opportunity for a formulation scientist to join our rapidly growing company. You will be part of our Product Management team, developing cutting edge advanced material solutions, including nanotechnology-based systems, and their associated production processes working in close collaboration with our global customer base.

Your Purpose in your role

You will be responsible for formulating our next generation of products and manufacturing processes, working on a variety of projects, initially supported closely by our senior product management and working more independently as your skills and knowledge develop.

What you will do and how you will succeed:

We are looking for talented individuals to join our team and work at our UK Manufacturing and Technology Centre. Creativity and the ability to innovate using your background knowledge in chemistry and materials science is a key requirement for this position. Main responsibilities include formulation development, statistical analysis of test data and developing associated manufacturing and quality control processes. This opportunity is a fully 'hands on' role, where you will be expected to use your laboratory skills. Training will be provided to operate a wide range of analytical and manufacturing equipment. You will need to always work safely with close adherence to health and safety practices including preparation of risk assessments. In addition, you will take an active role in customer visits, meetings, performing literature surveys, data acquisition and analysis to assist in producing written reports and presentations for our customers. Some international travel may be required.

· Degree, MSc or PhD in Chemistry, Engineering, Material Science or related discipline.

· Practical knowledge of how to prepare and process materials for testing purposes.

· Good laboratory skills - safe, structured, logical approach with excellent attention to detail.

· Curiosity and interest in new product development and to explore the limits of advanced materials technology.

· Positive attitude, high level of motivation, innovative, resilient with a sense of urgency.

· Ability to work independently or with cross functional teams

· Team player who collaborates well with other team members, suppliers and customers

· Able to multi-task to prioritise and co-ordinate given tasks.

· Work to tight deadlines and ensure work is completed within the agreed timescales.

Our Manufacturing and Technology Centre is in the picturesque town of Calne in Wiltshire with easy access into cities including London, Bath and Bristol. Dycotec Materials is a dynamic and rapidly growing company developing cutting edge advanced materials technology for applications such as clean technology, medical devices, IoT sensors, wearable technology, automotive and aerospace. Our products are developed to benefit society and can be found in areas as diverse as their use in latest solar cell technology, helping to extend the range of electric vehicles and providing more accurate medical diagnosis for heart conditions.

This is a fulltime position with salary in the range £30,000-34,000. Training will be provided. We work from 08:30-17:00, five days per week with 1 hour lunch break.
