ROLE SUMMARY: Wetherby School Kensington provides an environment that promotes educational excellence and tradition through a forward-thinking, holistic curriculum within which the needs of individual pupils are fostered. Wetherby School Kensington is a school for boys from Reception to Year 3 and is two form entry per year group. The boys receive high levels of academic education and pastoral care. The Wetherby School Kensington boys begin their learning journey in Reception and can stay at Wetherby School Kensington until they are eight years old. Wetherby School Kensington can be found in Wetherby Gardens and is in a conservation area. The school overlooks the beautiful Wetherby Gardens. With the opening of the Preparatory School in 2004, Wetherby boys have the opportunity to proceed through, or sit a competitive exam for, a London Day School. Wetherby School Kensington are looking for an experienced, highly motivated and enthusiastic French Teacher to join us from January 2025 or April 2025.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To teach French to all pupils from Year 1 to Year 3
- Prepare the syllabus and detailed schemes of work for French as a curriculum subject
- At the outset of the year prepare/review a subject development plan
- Prepare and teach other subjects as per skill and cover lessons as required to do so
- Record and evaluate pupils' progress and ensure the needs of those of all abilities are addressed
- To be aware of developments within their subject and update the French curriculum accordingly
- To communicate progress and goals with parents
- To promote our French programme with the wider community through newsletters and social media
- To support the school by providing clear, positive and meaningful communication to the parents of the children.
- To complete individual reports twice a year for every pupil
- To promote and foster good relationships amongst the staff, promote and implement all aspects of school policy.
- To undertake such other comparable duties as the Head requires from time to time
- To have responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people for whom you are responsible, or with whom you come into contact in the school. It is your responsibility to adhere to and ensure compliance with the school's Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy at all times.
- To co-operate fully with all members of staff and help promote good working relationships THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE: Qualifications
- Hold a relevant French qualification or an Honours degree in French
- PGCE or QTS (desirable not essential) Experience
- Experience of teaching French in the Primary age range and Early Years
- Familiarity with the National Curriculum Skills and Abilities
- Outstanding, dynamic and inspirational French teacher with first-rate subject knowledge
- Evidence of creative and exciting approach to the teaching and learning of French
- Ability to inspire children and produce high quality, exciting French lessons
- High levels of organisational ability
- A confident and competent user of ICT and iSAMS experience Personal Attributes
- Excellent communicator
- Ability to work as part of a team, co-operative and personable
- Professional, dedicated, hard-working and motivated
