Full Job Description

Bipolar UK is a national charity dedicated to supporting individuals affected by bipolar. We
provide a range of services including information and advice, a network of support groups,
eCommunity, workplace training and telephone and email peer support. We also work in
partnership with research organisations and campaign for new developments to tackle key
issues.
The Fundraising Officer will be responsible for overseeing a range of fundraising activities at
Bipolar UK, including developing and promoting an events portfolio, producing fundraising
materials and nurturing existing supporters. They will provide a high standard of stewardship
for supporters and external contacts at a variety of levels.

The Fundraising Officer will split their time across a range of activities, including attending to
the fundraising inbox, responding to enquiries from the public, sourcing t-shirts and
merchandise to support fundraising activity, developing and promoting an events portfolio,
keeping the website updated, helping to produce fundraising materials (flyers and fundraising
packs), nurturing existing supporters, thanking donors, promoting giving through legacies,
working on charity fundraising appeals, and optimising opportunities for donations through
charity events, such as our annual conference.

They will be working closely with the partnership team and will be required to support the
wider fundraising team where needed with additional fundraising activities.




The role demands a highly personable individual who is well organised, able to adapt, and
takes a thorough, methodical approach to their work.

This position is home-based although there will be a need to travel for meetings and events
across the UK. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

The successful candidate will be IT-savvy, an excellent communicator both verbally and
written, and highly organised with a strong attention to detail. A background in fundraising is
required, and a good understanding of bipolar is desirable. We will welcome applications

The role will include:

Excellent stewardship to maintain and grow our supporters across a range of income
streams

Monitoring the fundraising inbox, acting as a first point of contact for a wide range of supporters
and enquirers.
Developing individual giving income through enhanced communications, great stewardship
and supporting on fundraising appeals.
Nurturing our regular givers and looking for ways to grow our regular-giving donor base.
Completing thanking processes efficiently for donations.
Developing and managing tools and resources to support fundraising events including t-shirts,
posters, flyers, donation boxes and fundraising packs and sending them out to supporters as
requested.
Liaising with the communications team to create promotional materials to advertise events
through the website and social media channels to increase engagement.


Managing external accounts to support fundraising activities and maximise
opportunities for growth
Managing our accounts with event platforms such as Run for Charity, Enthuse and Discover
Adventure. Promoting events, working with the communications team to keep the website up
to date, assisting supporters with sign-up and maintaining communications with supporters to
maximise engagement and fundraising. Working with account managers to maximise event
opportunities and develop enhanced offerings.
Managing accounts for in-memory donations such as Much Loved, enhancing our in-memory
offerings and offering exceptional and compassionate support for people who choose to
fundraise in memory of a loved one.
Managing our Farewill account (free will writing service) and creating carefully considered
opportunities to promote legacies as a way of supporting the charity., Keeping accurate records of all prospect and supporter interactions on our CRM system,
Salesforce.
Optimising fundraising and donation opportunities at key charity events, such as the Annual
Conference.
Supporting the Senior Partnership Officer and Strategic Partnership Manager as and when
needed.
Working with colleagues across fundraising, communications and services teams to ensure a
smooth flow of information to support fundraising promotion and engagement., In the interest of effective working the main tasks may be reviewed from time to time to reflect
changing organisational needs. Any changes will be carried out in consultation with the post
holder.
The post holder will be expected to comply with Data Protection, Health and Safety at Work
and Equality and Diversity legislation and adhere to policies, procedures, and best practice.

confident speaking with individuals, in meetings and at events.

reporting, assessing impact and improving performance.

You work well under pressure and can cope with the dynamics of a small charity.

You are administratively self-supporting.

You have strong organisational and project management skills and can manage competing
priorities whilst working in a fast-paced environment.

You are creative and versatile in your approach and value the opportunity to grow and shape
your role.

You are self-aware and proactive in your personal and professional development.

You can set and meet deadlines, have a close eye for detail and work independently. You
are comfortable working with minimal supervision in a remote environment.

Skills and Experience

You have at least 2 years' experience of fundraising ideally in individual giving or community
fundraising.

You have excellent written and verbal skills - with experience of writing compelling copy and
building diverse strong relationships.

You have excellent project management and time management skills.




You have experience of delivering against targets.

You have a sound understanding of the principles of fundraising including ethical fundraising
and GDPR compliance.

You have used Salesforce (or equivalents).

You have a high level of competence using Microsoft Office software and are able to quickly
adapt to new technologies.

Location: Flexible - Home-based (with occasional travel to events and team
meetings in London required)

Salary: c.£28K depending on experience. (Initial 1-year fixed contract). 35
hours a week and 25 days of annual leave (plus Bank Holidays)
