Furze Platt Senior School

We are looking for a fully qualified, highly enthusiastic teacher of MFL (French with Spanish) to join our thriving Languages Department at Furze Platt. We teach French, German and Spanish from beginners level through to A level. The course includes a focus on language skills as well as the development of cultural knowledge and understanding. Students study two of the three languages in years 7, 8 and 9 and they can continue these at GCSE level. As well as language skills lessons, the department encourages food tastings and provides access to a range of media including film, music and literature and residential trips such as trips to Paris, Berlin and Madrid.

Furze Platt is the lead school for Teach Maidenhead, a teacher training partnership which offers School Direct teacher training giving staff the opportunity to develop their mentoring skills. ECTs are allocated a mentor, a reduced timetable and the opportunity to attend training sessions run by specialists from within the school.

We are keen to ensure that we support the physical and mental wellbeing of our staff. Discounted membership is available for the use of a fully equipped and well-maintained gym on-site. Staff are provided with a laptop and many have their own classrooms. We offer access to an employee advice service (Care First) which provides information, helpful resources, and a counselling service. We encourage community spirit and staff involvement through various social events, recent ones being our Christmas Party, "tea on the terrace" in the summer term, an orienteering event, murder mystery and cooking competitions, sports after school and a Furze Platt fantasy football league. Student and staff nominations, as well as Long Service Awards, recognise colleagues' contributions to our school.
