Full Job Description

Lead programme delivery teams and oversee delivery of a programme of individual projects to include:

Overseeing project development and alignment with NGED (National Grid Electricity Distribution) Innovation strategy and innovation roadmaps
Conducting project reviews and monitoring with NGED project managers to verify project performance
Leading NGED Staff and partners in distilling project learning into key messages and development recommendations.
Ownership of driving innovation roadmaps towards capability readiness and pitching capability roll-out project packs to internal stakeholders.
Overseeing the delivery of funding applications.
Supporting, leading and development of team members
Leading project teams to develop high quality project products including thought leadership papers, techniques, standards and investment papers.

Taking a key role in engaging with NGED colleagues, supporting DNO and DSO alike, to develop and maintain innovation product roadmaps, that describe the research and development steps that will need to be taken towards capability development and benefit delivery
Engage with a range of external stakeholders including representation at meetings with Ofgem, BEIS, electricity trade associations, academia, manufacturers, other network operators, suppliers and occasionally, other government departments.
Development good relationships with internal and external partners to understand and influence their activities, promote, and enhance NGED goals and reputation.

The Ideal CandidateWe are looking for an assertive problem solver with experience of working with a range of stakeholders in a project environment - including senior external stakeholders. You will be effective at negotiating and able to make decisions, whilst having the capability to influence, motivate, coach, and develop employees at all levels.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of Prince2. It is essential that you are able to demonstrate experience of running complex projects and working within governance frameworks, including funding applications. Development of MSP and/or Praxis is desirable.

To succeed you will have excellent inter-personal and communication skills, including the ability to deliver high quality written and presentation material

You will have a strong understanding of how operations and service interact with regulatory frameworks, and an understanding of how NGED and the wider ESI will need to change operations and service propositions on the road to net zero and climate change would be an advantage.

A full UK driving licence is required.

The Future Capability team is responsible for identifying high reward innovation and concepts and developing these new concepts into capability.

Exciting opportunities are available for permanent and temporary Future Capability Programme Leads. The roles will report in to the Head of Future Capability and will lead teams responsible for delivering a diverse range of research, capability development and capability roll out projects.

The temporary role will initially be for a period of 6 months, subject to review. The roles will be based at either Bristol or Castle Donington, however hybrid working will be available. It is expected that you will be in the office on a regular basis to spend time face to face with your team.
