Full Job Description

You're broadly defined as disabled under both acts if you have a physical or mental impairment that has a substantial and long-term negative or adverse effect on your ability to do normal daily activities. This definition includes both apparent and non-apparent conditions and impairments, and medical conditions such as Cancer, HIV or Multiple Sclerosis.,

  • Develop your journalistic skills within the BBC World Service News teams

  • Training and mentoring by industry professionals, Answer a few questions via video recording based on your motivations for applying and passion for this area. This will be requested in both English and your second language.

    Are you a fluent speaker and/or have a deep cultural connection to any of our BBC World Service Languages?, Aspiring disabled journalists at the beginning of their career who are passionate about finding and telling global stories. You should be curious about the world and have a knack for creatively sharing ideas. You will be fluent in one of our BBC World Service Languages (list below) or have a strong cultural connection to it., Identify as disabled under the Equality Act.
  • Be aged 18 or over when the scheme starts in January 2025.
  • Be legally allowed to work in the UK full time.
  • Be fluent in English and one of the languages we broadcast in. If you're not fluent, you must have significant cultural links you're able to demonstrate.
  • Be available full time for a three-week intensive training period from January 13th 2025. For the rest of the scheme you can work on a hybrid basis and take paid leave, both to be discussed and approved with your manager.
  • You will need to be in commuting distance to London Broadcasting House. If you don't live in London, don't worry we can help you with accommodation.
