Full Job Description

You'll be part of a team responsible for maintaining and renovating our cemeteries and memorial landscapes, including turf care, border maintenance, shrub and hedge maintenance, and general plant care using your horticultural skills and a range of machinery. You'll plan and organise daily workloads, managing stock orders for plants, chemicals, PPE, machinery as well as basic administrative tasks.

Reporting any structural defects and developments in the surrounding environment during your duties is a key part of the job. We value safety, so you'll need to conduct risk assessments and ensure all policies are followed. From time-to-time you'll collaborate with Skilled Maintenance Craftspeople on renovation projects and represent the Commission at ceremonies., As this is an active role, we will be interviewing as we go along, and the role will close when we have an offer accepted by a preferred candidate.

  • NVQ Level 2 in Horticulture OR experience of horticultural techniques, plant identification and sustainable garden practices

  • Understanding of health & safety

  • Experience with a wide range of garden machinery, including ride-on mowers

  • Full UK driver's license (Manual)
