Full Job Description

We have an opportunity for a Part Time Domestic Assistant to join our Accommodation team at Brighton University. As a Part Time Domestic Assistant you will be responsible for providing a high-quality cleaning and domestic service in the onsite accommodation. Your duties will include cleaning communal areas and emptying properties as well as completing a weekly service clean of occupied properties. There will be some heavy lifting involved. Joining a team of 4, we are looking for a team player who can use their own initiative to deliver a high-quality service and has experience in a similar role. The position of Domestic Assistant is referred to internally at Sanctuary, as General Assistant. The role of Domestic Assistant will include:

  • Providing high quality cleaning services for bedrooms, kitchens, pathways and communal areas
  • Identifying and reporting any hazards and faults to ensure a safe environment is maintained
  • Organising stores on site and carrying out checks of equipment, replacing when necessary
  • Any other general tasks as required by management

    Working knowledge and experience of undertaking general cleaning duties
  • Practical experience in operating cleaning machinery is desirable
  • Ability to work to deadlines, prioritise workloads and work on own initiative
  • Experience of understanding simple verbal instructions and undertaking duties as requested
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
