Full Job Description

Here at Balfour Beatty, our work inspires communities and advances society. Our commitment to sustainability looks even further generations further. Join our Regional Civils team as a General Foreman on our South Wokingham Distributor Road project where you'll be part of our legacy.

As a General Foreman you will provide supervision of the works and control of a team comprising foremen, gangers and direct labour force. Supervision and control of the works of sub-contractors through the lifecycle of the project.

What you'll be doing

As a General Foreman you will:

  • Under the guidance of the PM and or Site Manager; Accountable for the safe delivery, execution and financial performance to agreed budget and / or approved forecasts for individual projects

  • Responsible for the Operational and Commercial success of allocated projects, ensuring that all activities are carried out in accordance with legal, client and company requirements, policies and instructions

  • Programme, such as the Supervisor Development Programme (SDP)

  • Ensure that systems and processes are implemented to meet Project requirements, including Quality Plans, Completion Packs and ITPs

  • Ensure that weekly site inspections are completed to measure compliance to Group Minimum Operational Standards, and action plan implemented to address findings in a timely manner

  • Approval and implementation of Project Quality Plans, Safety Plans, Work Package Plans, ITPs and Tool Box Talks;

  • Effective management of our Subcontractors and Suppliers ensuring compliance to all contractual and safety requirements., Day in, day out, our teams deliver amazing projects in challenging conditions; developing, managing and maintaining the vital infrastructure and public spaces that modern economies, societies and communities rely on.

    A good knowledge and practical experience in Civil Engineering and Construction techniques and processes such as structures, highways and earthworks

  • Valid SMSTS Ticket

  • Excellent sub-contractor management experience

  • Health & Safety Qualification

  • First Aid qualification.
