Full Job Description

  • To carry out the various daily, weekly, periodic, and cleaning duties in Stores, CFB and public areas as required under the contract service level agreement and follow the cleaning schedule as directed by your line manager
  • Ensure you are aware of & comply with all client & company health & safety procedures and standards at all times e.g. Food Handling, COSHH, uniforms & PPE, Manual handling, Fire procedures, Quality control. Ensuring all correct PPE is worn at all times.
  • Complete, maintain and update all Health & Safety paperwork correctly when required.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of working areas ensuring Health and Safety hazards, issues, near misses and accidents are reported using the appropriate reporting procedures at the earliest opportunity, this also includes vehicles.
  • Ensure the correct storage, control and use of all machinery and equipment, cleaning materials and relevant chemicals.
  • Undertake mandatory training as detailed in the training matrix, ensuring all training is recorded on your training record card and to complete all on-line training
  • Be flexible and comply with any reasonable requests made by your line Manager including if necessary, working within other units within reasonable distance
  • Learn and demonstrate the ESS Way behaviours at all times to colleagues, customers & clients
  • Complete regular day to day activities as required for the smooth operation of your department / site as instructed by your line manager
  • To observe and comply with all company and unit profit protection procedures, reporting any issues to your line manager
  • To be polite, professional, and friendly at all times with customers, clients, and colleagues
  • To ensure the highest level of customer care is adhered to at all times
  • To demonstrate a can-do attitude towards individual customer requests and strive to exceed customer expectations
  • To take personal responsibility for correcting customer or client service problems
  • Ask questions to understand customer needs and actively seeks feedback on standards of performance
  • To always look out for opportunities to develop our service

  • Be prepared to assist colleagues in a willing and positive manner including assisting with other duties as required
  • Be prepared to attend all relevant training sessions and meetings
  • General unskilled labour tasks as requested
  • General ad-hoc cleaning tasks
  • Waste clearance/empty recycling external bins
  • Litter/debris skirmish as required including Carparks
  • Setting up conference/meeting rooms - this will also include the opening and closing of any partitions
  • Moving/set up furniture
  • Moving/transfer of bulky items (e.g. televisions) for meetings
  • Prep for any open days
  • Car Park/Building Entrance ways cleaning/bad weather clearance
  • Period checks of cycle racks including removal of abandoned cycles
  • Outdoor Signage - cleaning
  • Goose Poo clean up - At ground level only
  • Cleaning of outdoor furniture / paint when required (yearly)
  • Escort duties for external contractors - when required
  • Single Item furniture moves
  • Replacement of Fire Extinguishers when required
  • Removal and storage of locker clothing when required
  • Communal Area tidy up
  • Red bag disposal
  • To make sure you are aware of, and meet the legal and Company requirements for fire, safety, health, and hygiene
  • To report health and safety issues to your line manager, including all accidents and near misses
  • To promote good safety habits and methods of work
  • To order stock and ensure stock levels overall and on individual lines, promotions and best sellers are accurately managed and rotated to maximise sales opportunities
  • To ensure all promotional material and merchandising is correctly displayed and all legal labelling adhered to
  • To work with your Line Manager to ensure the Compass Service Framework policies, procedures and controlled documents are up to date and used effectively in your area including HSE & One Best Way procedures such as the rota tool, brand audits, monthly reviews, planograms, food to go trackers, trading diaries etc
  • To be flexible and assist colleagues outside of your usual work area as required by operational needs. This may include but not be limited to working in retail stores, coffee shops, bars, vending, messes & basic food prep areas
  • To proactively up sell and demonstrate excellent knowledge of all products provided to customers and clients
  • Ensure all company/client owned vehicles are maintained in accordance with company standards.
  • Ensure all paperwork associated with company/client vehicles is completed and submitted as required and in accordance with company procedures.

    A good communicator, able to liaise confidently with customers and engage with team members
  • Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised
  • A positive attitude and committed to high levels of customer care
  • An enthusiastic individual with a passion for working in a catering environment
  • High standards of personal hygiene
  • Able to speak & understand English
  • Able to work flexibly in line with business requirements
  • Able to undertake a range of manual cleaning duties
  • Follows the right procedures and challenges unsafe behaviour
  • Is positive and proud of doing a great job
  • Shares knowledge and experience with other team members
  • Full Driving Licence Required
  • Desirable:
  • Previous experience in similar roles
  • Integrity and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • A good command of written and spoken English
  • Proven track record in planning, organisation, and time management
