Full Job Description

The General Practice Education Facilitator role will support the Educational and workforce development opportunities such apprenticeships, those new to practice (Preceptorship, Fellowships, continual professional development, leadership development, and AD hoc opportunities offered by Health educational England.

You will be highly motivated who thrives on the supporting the development of learners and can provide the very best educational opportunities. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the provision of high quality multi-professional learning and will be required to support the breadth of the student, irrespective of grade or profession to ensure that learning opportunities are maximised.

With support from the Training Hub Lead and Operations Manager, take the lead in ULEs / desktop reviews, quality assurance monitoring/audits of clinical education in practice within primary care and in accordance with quality assurance standards in partnership with education providers.

Working 30.00 -37.5 Hours. This Job Vacancy is advertised via Irwell Medical and Darwen Healthcare (joint strategic leads) on behalf of Pennine Lancashire Training Hub. The role can be for one person but also advertised as a job share, flexible working hours including remote working and may suit an individual who is in the later stages of their career or wishing to work flexibly within a part-time role., To act as a representative for clinical education at local and regional level ensuring that national quality standards are met within practice placements to provide all students an experience of the highest quality.

Able to identify trends in work-based learning and working in partnership with supervisors, assessors, and managers to ensure the learning needs of students are met in the workplace.

Able to ensure sure that learning opportunities are maximised in the clinical placement environment for all learners by evaluating training and development programmes and implementing changes because of evidence gathered.

Able to identify and promote opportunities for partnership working across a range of professional groups and agencies.

To maintain a robust database of ULEs of all clinical placements as well as up to date records of all Pennine Lancashire supervisors and assessors.

Work with the Training Hub Lead and Operations Manager to influence educators and managers to continue to offer placements, balancing the need for increasing clinical placements while ensuring consistency in the quality of placements

Pennine Lancashire Training Hub form part of the one of the five localities that make up The Lancashire and South Cumbria Training Hub (L&SC TH) which supports the development of the existing and future workforce of General Practice.

The small friendly and professional team at Pennine Lancashire Training Hub value the ethos of education and training and work together supporting all the Practices with both East Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen. We would expect the post holder to have the knowledge and skills to complete the following key workstreams:

  • Develop and expand placement capacity

  • Ensure workforce planning is in place

  • Increase recruitment to Primary Care

  • Recruit and embed new roles

  • Retain the workforce


  • We adopt a flexible attitude to working hours and elements of the role can be completed remotely but encourage some working at one of the main bases in either Darwen Healthcare or Irwell Medical Centres.
