Full Job Description

This is a developmental role. As the Apprentice, you will work towards progression into the post of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Assistant Practitioner (AP) through successful completion of defined clinical competencies and the attainment of a Foundation Degree equivalent qualification.

You will develop and maintain knowledge, skills and competencies related to the role of Assistant Practitioner within the service this includes working in clinical care settings and delivery of person-centred care.

If you do not successfully complete the Assistant Practitioner 2-year Foundation degree/Level 5 qualification, you will either return to your substantive post and banding should you already work for us or this post will be terminated.

You will be required to:

  • deliver high quality, compassionate care under the direction of a HCPC Registered Radiographer (or other registered care professional dependent on setting).

  • gain knowledge of Magnetic Resonance Imaging protocols, safety and basic physical principles of image production from HCPC registered MRI Radiographers.

  • learn to demonstrate technical skills required to produce diagnostic images in a safe and caring way with high technical accuracy.


  • Full time: 37.5 hours per week
