Full Job Description

We are looking to recruit new members of the Porter/General Services Assistant (GSA) team at Camborne Redruth Community Hospital. You will need to be well organised, flexible and with a good standard of education and the ability to learn quickly, to undertake the General Services duties within our busy Community Hospital. Including collection of waste, delivering stock and supplies to all areas of the hospital, following policies, procedures and legislations and to carry out other duties as required to meet the demands of the service. Previous experience in a similar position is essential. Training and support will be given to the successful applicants. This post is for 37.5 hours Please note this is a 7 day week service between 0600 and 2200 hours.Main duties of the job To provide Hotel Services (with portering duties) to the Community Hospital and any outlying units in accordance with CFT policies and procedures. Responsibility for cleanliness of establishment in line with Standards of Quality Control.

  • Responsible for receipting goods and checking for/reporting errors.
  • Control use of stocks in absence of Senior GSA, marking as necessary.
  • Accountability for all keys/equipment issued or used in the course of duty.
  • Responsibility for reporting breakdowns, security and adhering to CFT policies and procedures.
  • To undertake all General Services Assistant duties and maintain a professional and hygienic appearance.
  • Awareness of Health and Safety legislation and COSHH.
  • Ability to follow instructions and use equipment provided following training.
  • To be helpful, courteous and kind to colleagues, staff, patients and the general public alike.
  • To be aware of patients' dignity and privacy needs at all times and act appropriately.
  • Portering duties which may include movement of patients, medical gases, furniture or other such items.
