As the Nurse Joint Advisory Group (JAG) Lead, to be responsible ensuring the unit maintains its quality and standards expected requirements for JAG and it's future accreditation status.

To work with other team members in maintaining all the JAG evidence to the required JAG standards, e.g management of audits, guidelines, SOP's, patient leaflets and service improvement.

Responsible for submitting the necessary information by the appropriate timeframes, along with working closely with the JAG Leads from Queens Day Unit and Weston General Hospital Endoscopy service.

To provide an expert level of professional practice within nursing (specialty), and to be responsible for the management of a nursing team, providing advice, information and support.

To actively support the Clinical Theatre Manager and assisting in the safe, effective and efficient management of the unit and deputising in their absence.

To assume responsibility for undertaking tasks delegated by the Clinical Theatre Manager including mentoring roles, auditing and clinical governance and appraisals.

To promote a ward / department environment that is conducive to learning, supporting and participating in the supervision / teaching of the more junior and / or new staff, both nursing and other members of the multidisciplinary team

To organise and prioritise care in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team, delivering a high level of care in all areas of the peri operative setting, circulating within admissions, endoscopy and recovery., Act as a clinical expert providing specialist knowledge and advice to both nurses and junior medical staff working within the unit.

Act as a resource to other areas within the Trust as require.

Work towards safe and timely discharge plans and ensure barriers to discharge are identified and acted on in a timely and appropriate manner.

To be proactive in supporting the nursing team and acting as a positive role model always promoting best clinical and professional practice.

Demonstrate excellent communication and leadership skills. Be actively involved in recruitment and staff development reviews.

Facilitate orientation and training programmes.

To act as nurse or ward representative at local and wider meetings in the absence of the line manager.

To participate and assist with systematic monitoring of performance and evaluation of nursing practice.

To liaise with other Trust departments re their services ie. CSSD, Radiography laboratories, Equarns, Theatres and Endoscopy units across Trust.
