Full Job Description

The Crypt School is seeking to appoint a dynamic part-time German Assistant to join the teaching staff in October 2024. The role will include up to half a day per week or one day per fortnight of teaching, subject to the number of students studying the language in the Sixth Form.

As a Language Assistant at Crypt your main duty will be the planning and delivery of one-to-one sessions with our sixth form language students to support their classroom learning. The themes of these sessions will follow the relevant AQA A Level course. You may also be asked to work with small groups of GCSE students.

The main goal of these sessions will be to improve the students' spoken fluency and accuracy in the target language, whilst deepening their cultural knowledge with reference to current affairs and native media where possible. You will also focus on improving students' exam technique where
appropriate.

Native level proficiency in German is essential as well as a desire to work with talented young
people who have a passion for languages. Knowledge of the AQA German A-Level course is
desirable.

We welcome applications from colleagues who enjoy working as part of a team and who seek to
contribute actively to the promotion of inclusion, achievement, and enrichment activities throughout the School. Ultimately, we are seeking teachers who will enthuse pupils in this oversubscribed selective school.

The Crypt School is an equal opportunity employer, and we value having a workforce as diverse as
the city and region we serve. We therefore welcome, develop and promote people from all sections
of the community, and we particularly welcome applications from groups who are currently under-
represented within our workforce such as from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates and
disabled candidates. The aim of our policy is to ensure that no job applicant or employee receives
less favourable treatment because of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil
partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.

Our recruitment selection criteria and procedures are frequently reviewed to ensure that individuals
are selected, promoted and treated on the basis of their relevant merits and abilities and that no
applicant or employee is disadvantaged by provisions, criteria or practices which cannot be shown to
be justified.
