Full Job Description

+ An exciting opportunity has arisen to become part of the corporate nursing team at St George's Hospital in London. This infection prevention and control (IPC) nurse post will support the site IPC team to deliver the trusts IPC strategy.
+ We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual who will be responsible for providing and supporting infection prevention and control best practice across the Trust, setting and auditing standards of infection prevention and control and ensuring that they are evidence based.
+ They will support effective delivery of an IPC service to the Trust (across all sites), thereby reducing the incidence of healthcare associated infections.
+ The post holder will be responsible with other members of the Infection Prevention and Control Team for prevention, surveillance, investigation and control and containment of infections across the Trust, working closely with IPC Group colleagues and the divisional teams, creating workable solutions, and providing expert advice.
+ The post holder will seek to ensure Trust compliance with The Health and Social Care Act 2008 (2015): Code of Practice for the NHS on the Prevention and Control of Healthcare Associated Infections and related guidance and participate in the development and coordination of an effective Infection Prevention and Control Service across the trust., + To contribute to the development and implementation of the annual Infection Prevention and Control Programme, Report and strategy for the effective control of Healthcare Associated Infection.
+ To attend and contribute to relevant committees, providing necessary reports on infection prevention and control issues within SGHT.
+ To assist in evaluation and interpretation of health legislation, directives and nationally agreed standards and guidelines in relation to infection prevention and control and assist in effective and appropriate implementation at local level.
+ Advise on and supervise the management of patients with communicable disease, in accordance with best practice, local policies and statutory requirements.
+ To work in conjunction with ward staff, ward managers, Infection Prevention and Control Team, matrons and site managers regarding movement and isolation of patients with infection or infectious diseases.
+ To act as an IPC role model in the clinical area, providing support to clinical staff.
+ To participate in external monitoring activities to ensure that the Trust is compliant from an infection prevention and control point of view e.g. Care Quality Commission and PLACE.
+ To present matters relating to infection prevention and control to staff and other audiences at relevant meetings, committees, study days and events, as required.
