Full Job Description

The GIS Team provides GIS services to our internal and external customers, maintaining detailed and accurate records of our water infrastructure assets and making the information available to the business, its contractors and third parties, supporting their daily operations and future planning. The team also supports the GIS applications and provides services to over 500 users, supporting activities such as: data administration and integration, mapping and analysis, project support and out-of-hours standby support. This role supports GIS services to both our internal and external customers. Internally, this role will support the maintenance of our water network, digitising new networks from contractor as-laids and updating existing information by actioning feedback from our Operational teams. The role will also provide general support to the team and our GIS users in the business by assisting with data enhancements, mapping projects and training. Externally, this role will support the provision of mapping to our external customers who contact us daily for information where water apparatus is located and assist with other water network related queries. This role will also support out-of-hours standby on a 1-week-in-7 basis. The success of the role will be measured by the delivery of high-quality data and support provided to the business.,

  • Maintain company asset data in GIS using a standardised approach to data capture
  • Support mapping requests from internal and external customers
  • Support internal data corrections & enhancements and other Business projects
  • Support internal GIS user training
  • Support maintenance of internal documentation e.g. guidance notes and procedures
  • Standby out-of-hours GIS support of our Operational teams

    Educated to degree level in a GIS, environment, science or related subject area
  • Experience using ESRI's ArcMap v10x and ArcGIS Pro. Knowledge of ArcGIS Online would also be desirable
  • Highly competent in data capture, including awareness of issues such as data quality, completeness, usability, metadata etc.
  • Eye for detail, including finding issues/problems with existing data or processes and suggesting improvements
  • Willingness to learn and develop skills through in-house training and coaching and attendance at third-party training where required
  • Self-motivated with a can-do attitude
  • Appropriate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills
  • Awareness of utility networks - preferably water networks - is desirable
