Are you looking to start your career in laboratory maintenance and management?
We are seeking to appoint a Glass Wash and Autoclave Technician to support the work of the Laboratory Manager and Officer, to help maintain services required to ensure the effective and smooth running of the NDM Research Building, on Old Road Campus in Headington. You will be responsible for the day to day operation of the building's autoclave and glass wash facility.
Key responsibilities for this role will include operating the central glass wash and autoclave facility, including collection, washing and autoclaving of glass ware, collection of biologically hazardous waste from all lab areas and oversight of appropriate waste disposal from lab areas and glass wash room, incl. 'made safe' autoclave waste and clinical waste. You will be responsible for the weekly cleaning of communal lab spaces (autoclave room, LN2 room, and -80 freezer room) and for checking the CL3 for stocks of surgical gowns, gloves, hand towels and soap and restock as required.
It is essential that you are educated to GCSE level or equivalent, with a high level of self-motivation and eagerness to learn. You will be an excellent communicator, both individually and as part of a team and you will have excellent organisational and time management skills and the ability to manage stock. It is essential you are able to report issues in a timely fashion and use your initiative to problem solve and troubleshoot. A keen interest in career development within the field of Laboratory Management and basic knowledge and understanding relevant Health and Safety Regulations would be highly desirable.
