Full Job Description

Glendower Preparatory School, is an all-girls school, situated in superb surroundings in the heart of South Kensington, close to neighbouring Museums and historic landmarks. As a charitable trust, Glendower is run independently and all profits are directed back into the school, making it a richly resourced educational environment and highly rewarding school to work in. The school educates 280 girls from Nursery to Year 6, with each year group running a two-form entry. Academic results are excellent, due to the focus on highly specialist and individualised teaching and our girls go on to obtain places in the top academic day and boarding schools. Places at Glendower are gained following an entry assessment held each January; there are waiting lists operating in all age groups across the school as places are oversubscribed. Pupils are encouraged to be ambitious for themselves and, as such, make excellent progress. What we offer:

  • Comprehensive CPD and career development.
  • Nutritious, complimentary school lunches provided daily.
  • Strong support network within the Glendower community, including colleagues, Senior Leadership Team, governors, and parents.
  • Dedicated Staff Liaison for staff well-being and communication.
  • "Golden Ticket Day" - an extra paid day off during term time.
  • Friendly staffroom and vibrant social events and staff gatherings, making the most of central London.
  • Access to a personal 1:1 Mindset Coach for professional and personal growth.
  • Small class sizes.
  • Excellent ECT support.
  • The Role We are looking for a full- time PE Teacher at Glendower Preparatory School that will build on the current sporting success enjoyed by the school. Although Glendower is an academic school, it places strong emphasis on educating the whole girl, with sport playing a central role in the weekly timetable. The school prides itself on competing in high level competitions, such as IAPS Swimming and Skiing, and promoting 'sport for all', as we continue to introduce a variety of new sports to the girls. The successful candidate will be an educator who is able to try and inspire every girl with a lifelong passion for sport. Along with delivering high-quality physical education and promoting excellence, the PE Teacher will take an active and enthusiastic role in extra-curricular activities and clubs, ensuring that all pupils have access to a broad range of sporting opportunities. The Department The successful PE Teacher will join an excellent team of dedicated PE specialists and will have the opportunity to teach sport across all levels of the school, from EYFS through to Pre-Prep and Prep, ensuring a cohesive and dynamic approach to physical education throughout the school. Salary, Terms and Conditions All teaching staff are expected to be on-site from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, in addition to INSET days, Saturday fixtures, and any other agreed-upon commitments with the Headmistress. Non-contact time for planning, preparation, and assessment (PPA) is built into the weekly timetable, though the allocation may vary depending on individual staff needs or to accommodate cover requirements. The salary for this position will be commensurate with the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience.
