Full Job Description

Altus Education Partnership is seeking to recruit an experienced, proactive and knowledgeable Governance Professional to support governance at all levels within the Trust. This post offers an exciting opportunity to join an expanding and successful Trust and is vital in ensuring that the Trust demonstrates robust governance and meets its statutory and advisory requirements. The successful candidate will provide the Board and its committees with authoritative guidance on all areas of governance and constitutional necessities, offer exemplary clerking support (with support from a pool of clerks), and support every tier of the governance structure to function effectively and efficiently. As governance lead, you will achieve excellent standards of compliance and regularity, and take responsibility for governance documents, management of information, and the maintenance and improvement of systems, processes and communications. This role will act as an expert resource and support for all stakeholders involved in governance, including Members, Trustees, Local Governing Academy Boards, senior staff and Head Teachers. You will play a lead role in the policy review cycle and will support colleagues with work on compliance in areas such as audit and risk. You will be an excellent communicator, organiser and your meticulous attention to detail will be demonstrated throughout your work. You will welcome the opportunity to take a flexible approach to your role: while this role will be based at the Trust Central Offices in Rochdale, the Trust is willing to consider a hybrid working model for this post and is flexible about working hours due to the fact meetings will be held in the evenings. The postholder may wish to work full time hours or, for the right candidate, this can be a part time role. The post holder will be required to attend Board meetings in person, which take place in the early evening (weekdays and termtime only), and the post holder will accommodate these hours within their core working hours. You will demonstrate excellent time management skills, not only in structuring your working week, but also in meeting demands and competing deadlines.
