Full Job Description

We are seeking two Assistants to join our Governance Support Team, which has a reach across the whole of Somerset NHS Foundation Trust and across a huge range of services in Somerset and beyond.

These posts are available within our Compliance and Effectiveness and Patient Safety and Learning functions and will be integral to the wider team.

In the Assistant role, you will make a key contribution to the delivery of high-quality support for a wide range of governance processes, with relationships developed across the team and the wider organisation. You will provide effective administrative and co-ordination support enabling the effective delivery of our governance objectives.

This will provide an opportunity for a varied role in a busy, friendly environment, with the prospect of development in the following areas, depending on the role: For Compliance & Effectiveness, workstreams include policy and guideline management, quality assurance, clinical audit, clinical effectiveness, and quality/safety data review. For Patient Safety and Learning, workstreams include learning from patient safety events, learning from deaths, litigation claims and inquests., As a member of the wider Governance Support Team the Assistant will work flexibility and collaboratively and will have opportunities to gain experience of all aspects of the team's broad remit.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to providecomprehensive administrative and co-ordination support. The assistant will provide support for key Trust-level meetings associated with both our compliance/assurance and patient safety workstreams, with the portfolio depending on the specific role held.

Duties for the Compliance and Effectiveness assistant extend to policy document management, supporting the ongoing development of our merged Trust's policies and procedures directory. Duties for the Patient Safety and Learning role extend to support for negligence claims and inquest arrangements, providing insight into the operation of learning and legal processes leading from patient safety events.

An ability to organise large collections of information and to forge good relations with a wide variety of colleagues throughout the Trust will be crucial.

The work of the Assistant in either post will require flexibility, excellent organisational ability, good judgement and the ability to effectively prioritise. A keen eye for detail will also be needed. Above all, effective communication and teamworking will be essential.

The Assistant will combine high standards and commitment with excellent written and verbal communication skills, exceptional organisational skills, and minute taking experience.

The Governance Support Team is a friendly team of around forty, covering three main strands of governance: compliance and effectiveness, health, safety and risk and patient safety and learning.
