Full Job Description
The successful candidate will act as a company spokesperson, representing J&J MedTech in the political and policy arena in the UK. S/he will facilitate connections between internal and external stakeholders and build collaborative relationships with government departments, agencies, policy makers, politicians, trade associations and partner with patient groups and other stakeholders on prioritized public policy issues. This role will interact with J&J colleagues and leaders across the business and other functional areas, including health economics, market access, external affairs and regulatory affairs. Responsibilities include:
- Formulate and execute Government Affairs engagement strategy in the UK on behalf of J&J MedTech to enable business growth and introduction of innovation.
- Build and maintain a strong, ongoing network and coalition with governmental and non-governmental stakeholders to advance regulatory modernization, transformation of healthcare system, cardiovascular, obesity and cancer policies and industrial policy.
- Gathering and analyzing legislative and public policy developments and impacts on J&J MedTech.
- Participate in internal/external events and actively engaging on driving key issues.
- Building strategic relationships that position J&J as a key trusted advisor to government officials and trade/think tank organizations.
- Ensure J&J is positioned as thought leader and demonstrates strong leadership in the UK industry associations.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure coherent external J&J MedTech strategy.
- Identify external opportunities for J&J Executives and support their external thought leadership.
This is a role where the appointed candidate will be able to bring together and utilize a broad array of their skills and experiences. They will be afforded autonomy to establish and build their network of key contacts and liaise with senior stakeholders internally and externally. A minimum of 10 years professional experience is required. - Government Affairs Experience: Familiarity with legislative and regulatory processes, as well as the political environment across the UK, is desirable. The ability to engage and develop relationships with government stakeholders is essential. A solid understanding of European policymaking, international policy, and UK trade relationships is also preferred.
- Relevant Industry Experience: Experience in understanding and influencing policy matters within the MedTech and/or pharmaceutical/healthcare industries is required.
- Business Orientation and Impact: A demonstrated ability to understand business goals and collaborate effectively with business leaders to support and advance those objectives. A proven track record of engaging with executives, policymakers, multi-lateral organizations, and other internal and external stakeholders to achieve meaningful, commercially driven policy outcomes is essential.
- Drive, Agility, and Collaboration: A results-oriented, self-motivated leader who thrives in a challenging, fast-paced environment. This individual should be able to drive complex projects, provide strategic direction, and have the desire to continuously evolve best practices. Highly organized and adaptable, they must be able to prioritize and deliver under tight deadlines, think creatively in fluid situations, and bring a collaborative, team-oriented approach to their work.
- Executive Presence & Communication: A strong presentation style with excellent written and verbal communication skills is necessary. The ability to quickly earn trust and inspire confidence among key internal and external stakeholders is critical.

- The position will be based in Pinewood and will require a frequent presence in London and Pinewood as per our J&J flex policy.

- A university degree is required. Master's in public policy or law or healthcare management or MBA are desirable.
