GP Assistant

Colchester Medical Practice has a fantastic opportunity for a GP assistant (GPA) to join our team on a full or part-time basis for for up to 37 hours per week. This is a 2 year fixed term contract. The GPA position is a support role, covering administrative tasks and, if appropriate, some basic clinical duties, to assist the GPs, enabling them to make the best use of consultation time. The post-holder will form part of our multi-disciplinary, primary-care team and contribute to the smooth running of the surgery. • Managing incoming and outgoing clinical correspondence;
• Extracting information from clinical documents that require coding;
• Arranging appointments, referrals, tests and follow-up appointments;
• Completing basic (non-opinion) forms, and core elements of some forms, for the GP to approve and sign. These might include insurance, mortgage and benefits agency forms, for example;
• Improving patient flow;
• Supporting patient experience by reiterating information from the GP;
• Assisting with practice tasks;
• Helping the GP liaise with outside agencies e.g. arranging admission;
• Supporting the prescription clerk team.
  
  Colchester Medical Practice is a well established PCN, delivering excellent care to over 40,000 patients across the city of Colchester. We have four sites (Shrub End Surgery, Castle Gardens Medical Practice, Wimpole Road Surgery and Parsons Heath Medical Practice) and a new Health and Wellbeing Hub, based at our Parsons Heath site.
