Full Job Description

To make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to patient presented problems To assess the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems To prescribe medication adhering to local and national guidance To effectively manage patient long-term conditions To process referrals, repeat prescriptions requests and other associated administrative tasks in a timely manner To maintain accurate clinical records in accordance with good practice, policy and guidance To work collaboratively with colleagues, accepting an equal share of the practice workload To adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and audit processes To maintain patient confidentiality To contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement, quality initiatives, clinical governance, staff development, financial and HR management within the Practice To accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) of QOF To participate in the review of
significant or near-miss events To attend and contribute effectively to Practice meetings, as required To prepare and complete the revalidation process To commit to self-learning and instil the ethos of continuing professional development across the Practice team To support the Partners in achieving the strategic aims of the Practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure To review and adhere to Practice protocols and policies at all times To encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly. Health and safety Use personal security systems within the workplace Maintain awareness of infection control standards and good practice guidelines. Provide appropriate advice and guidance Provide advice on the correct and safe management of the specimens process, including collection, labelling, handling, use of correct containers, storage and transport arrangements Correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in both routine and extraordinary
circumstances Cleanliness of own work area and hand hygiene Managing directly all incidents of accidental exposure Safe use of sharps, storage and disposal Demonstrate due regard for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and adults Equality and diversity The post holder will support the equality, diversity and rights of patients, carers and colleagues, respecting privacy, dignity, needs and beliefs.
