Full Job Description

  • With the support of more experienced Design Engineers, the role holder shall produce designs for electrical systems using CAD (Computer Aided Design) applications.
  • Prepare CAD documents that meet the requirements of UKAEA and British Standards and the quality required by UKAEA CAD standards.
  • Perform preliminary design calculations to ensure the fitness for purpose of the proposed design solutions.
  • As part of being on the Graduate Scheme, 20% of the time will be allocated for development / fast track the knowledge skills and experience with training. There is a core suite of activities designed to develop your professional, business skills and those of your specific job role, in addition there will be the opportunity achieve Chartership with the IET.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with colleagues to capture electrical system requirements.
  • Support the development of electrical systems from concept to detailed design.
  • Preparation of CAD drawings (models, drawings, diagrams, and schematics) and associated documentation (cable schedules, parts lists etc.) that meet the requirements of UKAEA CAD Standards.
  • Perform preliminary design calculations to ensure the selection of appropriate components, particularly safety related.
  • Preparation and presentation of material for Design Review. - Configuration of design information in accordance with UKAEA's configuration management policy.
  • Contribute to programme planning via progress reports and estimates of work package durations.
  • Ensure that electrical system designs adhere to international and UKAEA design standards.
  • Support the development of FMEA's.
  • Build strong working relationships with Design Office personnel and its customers.
  • Peer review and checking of CAD documents produced by other designers.
