Full Job Description

You will be given the responsibility for managing tasks and elements of large complex projects as well as small specialist ones. You will oversee site work and construction ground-work operations. You will be highly organised and technically competent, providing clear and regular communications with colleagues, clients, and sub-contractors. The role will be focused on servicing both internal and external clients. The ideal candidate will be willing to accept the challenges for what they are and thrive within a growing and diverse engineering environment.

  • A relevant degree such as Environmental Science, Geography and Geology and Environmental Geology or studying towards a similar degree relevant to the role.

  • Ideally a Masters' degree, although not essential.

  • Good IT skills and knowledge of MS Office suite and ideally relevant industry software, although training is provided.

  • Strong report writing skills.

  • Keen to share your ideas about how we can do things better.

  • Great communication skills developed through well-rounded life experience - academically, socially and in any previous work situations.

  • Enthusiasm and ambition to develop and progress.

  • A can-do problem-solving attitude.

  • Personal organisation skills, and the ability to work well within a team.

    What you'll be doing

    The role will be a combination of site-based and office-based tasks and will comprise working as a Geo-Environmental Graduate within the Service on a range of interesting and often complex schemes. You will be responsible for undertaking allocated tasks in relation to Phase I and Phase II ground investigations and assessment, and/or remediation activities, including (office and site-based) coordination and communication with BWB colleagues and sub-contractors. Site work will include supervision of ground investigations (which can be local or nationwide), logging of exploratory holes and ground conditions, soil and water sampling, monitoring, and keeping good quality site/daily records. Office-based work will include compiling and reviewing desk-study information, scheduling of laboratory testing, data compilation, processing, analytics, and reviewing, geo-environmental assessment and reporting..
