Full Job Description

As a Graduate Hydrogeologist, you will join one of the largest Hydrogeology teams in the UK, working within Stantec's market-leading Environmental Services group.

The team you will be joining provides services in water resources, groundwater modelling, river and coastal modelling, flood risk assessment, drought analysis, climate change assessments, hydrogeological impact assessment and catchment management. You will be supporting multiple clients across environmental, geotechnical and water disciplines, working with industry, regulators and water companies across the UK, and occasionally overseas.

You will work on a variety of projects, providing high quality solutions to challenges faced in the water and mineral sectors. Some examples of challenges are:

  • Assessing the impacts of climate change on the water environment and on water supplies, at both extremes of droughts and flooding.

  • Investigating the sustainability and impacts of water abstractions on the wider environment such as dependent surface water and terrestrial ecosystems.

  • Developing conceptual understanding of regional aquifers and how groundwater interacts with surface water, developing numerical models to enable the regulation of groundwater abstraction.

  • Determining the potential risk of national infrastructure projects on the groundwater environment.

  • Designing new groundwater abstractions and monitoring boreholes infrastructure.

  • You will be given the opportunity to carry out technical field work as well as office-based work, developing your ability to collect and analyse data and to conceptualise and quantitatively describe hydrological systems and processes.

Examples of work carried out by graduates in our team include groundwater modelling, collecting field hydrometric data, processing data in GIS, water framework directive assessments, hydrogeological impact assessments, water quality modelling and much more., Stantec provides equal employment opportunities to all qualified employees and applicants for future and current employment, supporting inclusion & diversity . We prohibit discrimination on the grounds of demographic background in any condition of employment. Stantec is in compliance with laws and regulations, and ensures equitable opportunities in all aspects of employment.

We want to ensure all our applicants have the same opportunity for success. Please inform us of any support/reasonable adjustment you may need as a result of a disability, long-term health condition, neurodiversity or other personal circumstances, to enable you to perform to the best of your ability during the recruitment process (e.g. extra assessment time, special access request etc). Please contact Careers.UK&I@stantec.com and a member of our team will be happy to assist.

At Stantec, we value your potential over past experience. Along with your Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geography, Environmental Science (or equivalent), and a keen interest in the water industry, we'd love to receive your application if you are:-
