Full Job Description

Strategic Infrastructure is a part of National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) and is responsible for delivering 17 major new projects to connect more clean, low-carbon power to the transmission network in England and Wales. These projects, delivered under the regulator's Accelerated Strategic Transmission Investment (ASTI) framework, play a vital part in achieving the UK Government's ambition of connecting 50GW of offshore wind by 2030. The Development Strategy team are responsible for ensuring we lead the assessment and development of projects for delivery options. This includes involvement in multiple workstreams impacting the high level and detailed initial project development. The Development Analyst will lead on the creation of the initial business case for projects. It is also expected that you will be developing the methods and applying a societal impact inclusive cost benefit analysis. Some of the key things you'll be getting up to as a Development Analyst are:

  • Developing the initial business case for projects and hand it over to delivery teams.
  • Coordinating with internal stakeholders (consenting, lands, external affairs, procurement and all construction project related teams) to collect relevant information for the development of robust business cases
  • As part of the initial business case for projects, develop and assess delivery options including project cost, delivery timescales and programme development.
  • As part of early stage development for projects, carry out a high level project optioneering; looking into routing, outages, interdependencies with other projects and other aspects.
  • Engagement with digital teams to identify and use available technologies to improve the accuracy and efficiency of project development., As you'll be joining our 18-month graduate programme, you'll have a tailored development pathway to support you as you develop a wide range of leadership, business, and technical skills. You'll attend in-person and virtual development sessions throughout your programme to equip you with the essential skills required, as you begin your career at National Grid.     You'll need to achieve a minimum 2:2 in a Science, Technology, Engineering & Math's (STEM) related discipline. It doesn't matter when you graduated or if you are currently working towards your qualification. We just need you to be eager to apply your knowledge in a real-world setting.
  • You'll need flexibility to travel within role and throughout your rotations as required. To be eligible to apply for this role, candidates must be able to demonstrate that they will have the legal right to work in the UK for the duration of the graduate programme.
