Full Job Description

We're looking for Graduate Mechanical & Electrical Engineers to join our Kier Professional Services (KPS) team based in Salford, Greater Manchester., KPS are our in-house team of consulting engineers, providing permanent and temporary designs and technical support to our Construction, Transportation, Property and Natural Resources, Nuclear and Networks business divisions. As our centre of technical excellence, KPS are behind many of our innovation successes, adding value for our colleagues and clients every day. As a Graduate Mechanical & Electrical Engineer in KPS, you'll have exclusive access to our industry-leading portfolio of current and upcoming projects across the built environment. KPS support around 500 Kier projects each year, undertaking thousands of designs and providing a wide range of technical advice and related services. Your day to day will include:

  • Assisting in the design and development of mechanical and electrical systems for projects.
  • Supporting the preparation of detailed drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Conducting site visits to monitor progress and ensure compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements.
  • Collaborating with project managers, architects, engineers, and contractors to facilitate effective communication and problem-solving.
  • Assisting in the preparation of technical reports, documentation, and project updates.
  • Participating in project meetings and contribute to the resolution of technical issues.
  • How does the graduate scheme work? When you join, you will be enrolled onto our graduate scheme. The programme will take 2 years to complete and has been designed to equip you with the skills you need to excel in your chosen profession and help you achieve professional membership or chartership. Alongside the graduate programme, you'll also be enrolled to KPS's own bespoke technical development programme, providing 100 days of training during your first four years with the team. You'll be assigned a chartered engineer as a mentor to guide and support you achieving professional qualification with one of the UK's engineering institutions as soon as possible. A little later on, all of our senior employees are given the opportunity to complete a 13-month Management Development Programme, leading to Chartered Manager qualification with the Chartered Management Institute.

    We're looking for people due to graduate in 2025, or have recently graduated within the past three years, with an Engineering Council accredited degree (Masters preferred) in mechanical or electrical engineering Ideally, you will have achieved, or be predicted to achieve, a 2:1 or better.,
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills, with a practical problem-solving mindset.

  • Self-motivated, hard-working, willing to learn, punctual, organised and committed.
  • Hold a full UK driver's licence.
